![]() Every new Blackberry cell phone comes with a software CD called Blackberry Desktop Manager. When you install this program on your computer, it allows you to synchronize a variety of information with your Blackberry device through a USB cable. If you use the Microsoft Outlook program to check your e-mail and store your address book, then you can transfer your contacts from your computer to your Blackberry. Blackberry Desktop Manager is now available for Apple computers as well, so Mac users can also transfer contacts to Blackberry devices. PC Instructions1 Insert the Blackberry Desktop Manager CD into the disc drive of your PC computer. 2 Follow the on-screen instructions to install the Blackberry Desktop Manager application on your computer. 3 Connect your Blackberry device to your computer using the USB cable that came with your cell phone. This should be the same cord that you use to charge your Blackberry. 4 Launch the Blackberry Desktop Manager application. 5 Click on the "Synchronize" icon on the main menu of the Blackberry Desktop Manager program. 6 Go to the "Configuration" tab at the top of the pop-up window. 7 Click on the "Configure Synch" button and then check the box next to "Address Book" to enable contact transferring. Hit "OK" to save the settings. 8 Go to the "Synchronize" tab at the top of the window and click on the "Synchronize Now" button. The contacts from your Outlook address book will now be transferred to your Blackberry device. Mac Instructions1 Insert the Blackberry Desktop Manager CD into the disc drive of your Mac computer and follow the on-screen instructions to install the software. 2 Connect your Blackberry device to your computer using the USB cable that came with your cell phone. 3 Go to the "Applications" folder on your Mac computer and double-click on the "Blackberry Desktop Manager" icon. 4 Go to the "Information" tab on the left side of the window and click on the "Contacts" option. 5 Enable the "Two Way" option for contacts syncing and then hit the "Sync" button to transfer the contact information on your Mac to your Blackberry. |
